Chapel Lane roadworks

The collapsed drain on Chapel Lane will require a road closure which will trap residents and their vehicles in their homes.

Published: 8 January 2025

The collapsed drain in Chapel Lane has been causing misery to the residents of Chapel Lane, Hollands Park Ave and Highfield Gardens for the last couple of winters. This year the County Council tried a temporary repair over Christmas which left metal plates covering the hole, but this has proved unsuccessful. Recent rain has caused the drains to block and back up, blowing open the drain cover outside the Football Club, and causing a torrent of water to run down Chapel Lane and out onto the main road.

An email sent today from County Councillor Andrea Davis to residents, explains that a road closure is going to be needed to deal with the works. The work is also further complicated by an electric cable in the ground. Once a plan is in place, this will be communicated to residents.

As Chapel Lane will be closed, CMPC will not be issuing Parking Tickets to cars parked in the Coach Park during the road closure, to allow residents to park in this car park.
