Tree Planting

Tree planting update

Published: 20 March 2026

As spring seems to be approaching, the end of the winter planting season is drawing to a close. Over the winter of 2025/26 the Council have planted 42 new trees across 4 different sites. The majority of these are fruit trees, which as well as being excellent for pollinators, will bloom, providing beautiful flowers for all to see, and will provide fruit for villagers.

The one tree that isn’t a fruit tree is an Oak tree. This oak has been donated to the village as a direct replacement for the one that had died in Hollands Park. Over the next 20/30 years this should grow to become a real feature of the park.

Over it’s lifespan a fruit tree will absorb approximately 1 tonne of CO2, and on oak tree will absorb approximately 10 tonnes of CO2, so the trees planted this winter will take approximately 51 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere.
